Today, I’m sharing another one of my poems. Wedding Ceremonies have always fascinated. I wanted to pen a poem on this topic since long. I finally did, last month. Here it is:
The Wedding Day
Let the mother put on a red scarf,
Let the father make all the arrangement,
For the day has come
after several months of engagement.
Let the Guests be welcomed,
Let the decorations be made,
For the day has come
when relations will upgrade.
Let the henna give its colour,
Let the face be bright,
For the time has come
when he’ll be the groom and she, the bride.
Let the garlands be exchanged,
Let the music be played,
For the time has come
when promises will be made.
Let the holy fire be lit,
Let the dances be performed,
For it is the moment
when an eternal bond is formed.
– Suraj Kumar.
Did you like this poem? And do you also like wedding ceremonies? I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Lovely poem. Weddings are amazing. We Punjabis have a gala time reconnecting with relatives, gorging yummy food and dancing on the beats of dhol.

Thank you. I wanted to include that feasting & all, but couldn’t find right words.
Punjabi Weddings are so fun. A wedding that begins much earlier from THE day. I love the rituals that follow after marriage. Am glad we both have something in common. Punjabis. ๐

Once again a beautiful composition. This poem reminds me of Wallace Stevenโs โThe Emperor of Ice cream โ .Love it.

Thank you, Ma’am.
Yes, the first half of that poem is similar to this one. The difference is that the preparations are being made for a funeral in that poem.
Am glad you like it. ๐
